UNIVERSAL INDUSTRIAL GASES INSTALLS FINNCO VAPORIZERS

Universal Industrial Gases (UIG), the Pennsylvania-based supplier of industrial gases production equipment, is installing FinnCo water recirculating disposal vaporizers in five steel fabrication sites.  The vaporizers will help dispose of cryogenically-produced liquid nitrogen and liquid oxygen safely into the atmosphere by heating the liquids into vapors and expelling them.

The three larger vaporizers have a diameter of 38” and will be capable of vaporizing 62,000 lb/hr of liquid cryogen, while the smaller two 24” diameter vaporizers will process 20,000 lb/hr.  Each of the vaporizers is 20’ in length.

Jim Hanly, Director of Product Development at FinnCo, comments: “FinnCo’s water circulating disposal vaporizers are ideal for air separation units such as those at the UIG plants.

“The vaporizers use cooling/heating water circuits as a heat source to vaporize liquid cryogens generated during shut-downs and start-ups of air separation plants. 

“The units include stainless steel U-tube bundles and a surrounding carbon steel shell.  Tube bundles and shells are ASME Sec VIII stamped and meet TEMA requirements.”
