AGP Finds Perfect Blend With FinnCo Vaporizers

Massachusetts-based AGP is one of the leading helium distributors in the US and, having invested in a dozens of ambient vaporizers and three electric vaporizers from FinnCo, it is stepping up its gas-blending capacity using these heating units.

AGP delivers various gases, including wholesale bulk and a broad range of high-pressure cylinders, to customers across the US and overseas via its huge fleet of trailers. The FinnCo vaporizer installations has enabled it to accelerate its capabilities in response to growing customer demand.

Initially, AGP installed one 72 KW electric vaporizer with a MAWP of 400 PSI and four ambient vaporizers with a capacity of 25,000 SCFH, operating at pressures of up to 7,500 PSI.

AGP’s Service Manager, Matt Hughes, is responsible for the smooth operation of all on-site equipment, from bulk tanks to feeders, and including the many FinnCo vaporizers it has installed so far.

“The electric vaporizers are absolutely vital in ensuring we deliver the highest standard of service to our customers,” says Matt. “By increasing the temperature, you increase the molecular movement. Therefore, better diffusion and a better mix, resulting in a better product.”

“We now have four 25,000 cubic feet FinnCo ambient vaporizers at our Massachusetts location, two larger 50,000 cubic feet units that we have installed on a permanent basis at a customer site nearby, with many more scattered around New England.”

“We use electric vaporizers to heat the CO2 required in various gas blends. AGP specializes in and manufactures ‘shielding gases’ which are designed to protect welds from damage due to contact with atmospheric gases. These are blended from combinations of argon, helium, oxygen, nitrogen, and CO2. Again, the FinnCo vaporizers are critical to the running of this blending operation.”
